An important book about a pivotal writer 26 Jun. 2013
By cavedave - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Elizabeth Bishop wrote both poetry and prose with imagination and accuracy. She is an important figure in Modernist writing and this book clearly presents the story of her association with two other outstanding and equally important writers: Marianne Moore and Robert Lowell. If you are studying imagist poetry and/or modernist prose, you should have this book. The author, David Kalstone wrote the original thesis, but did not complete the work. This book was professionally edited and completed by Robert Hemenway. If Bishop's story interests you, get her "Poems" (blue cover)and her "Prose" (yellow cover) volumes, available through Amazon. You won't be disappointed.
