Peter Gilquist reveals in this book a deep hungering for spiritual truth, and a deeper Christian experience. The book is a journal of his pilgrimage from evangelical Protestantism, to evangelical Orthodoxy. Evangelical Orthodoxy is something I considered impossible until I read this book. This book is not a polemical argument against Protestantism, but rather a wonderful travel log of his spiritual journey .

What a book! Hardly the expected 20th century answer for nearly two-thousand-year-old questions: how do we worship as the Body of Christ, what do we believe? The author and his colleagues' search ended at Orthodox doors and this book chronicles carefully the process there and the process after. The reader is yanked in immediately and finds clear, careful, exciting recounting. I'm not Orthodox by the way; I ordered this because my daughter-in-law is.

Nothing but kudos and congratulations on a wonderful book, perfectly geared for Americans wishing to know more about the Orthodox Church. Christianity in the United States tends towards appreciating 'conversion stories' (actually, it's a phenomon in the Orthodox Church as well, but of a different ethos), and if you are an American looking into the Orthodox Church, this book will give you a small taste of what to expect, and will inspire you to go forward.
