On the plus side, I love the idea of this collection (modern interpretations of myths and fairy tales, in a sense), and the stories themselves are pretty original. My husband was chuckling just from my summary of one of the stories. On the minus side, I'm not terribly taken with this author's writing style. It's not crisp, and yet it's not exactly poetic either. It feels sloppy, like the sort of output you'd get from a writing workshop, where the participants and leader are too timid to be fully honest in their critique... but that may just be me. If the 'look inside' option is ever offered with this book, it's probably worth reading some first to see whether you like the style before proceeding. If you like her style, the stories themselves are interesting enough to carry it.
