Becoming
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, Brooke Burgess really knows the way of crafting a tightly conceived story. Basically long and short of the plot is it revolves around a frustrated and angry university student by the name of Jacob Price who is willing to expand his knowledge with something new, when he confronts one of the staff of the university Dr. Magus to teach him something incredibly different, he get's more than he really asked for.
What I find interesting about it is how well the dialogue is played off between the three characters we are introduced in this story, the psychological horror element of the story really does get quite interesting as the story progresses and each other the motivations of the characters are each well played out as the story goes on.
On top of that this is a very personal story to the writer of Brooke Burgress and deals so well with the particular themes it use in this story.
Easily one of the most intelligent and well written comic books I have read since 2013 began, I would highly recommend this title.

His specialty is writing superbly, intelligent, dark and thought provoking stories. Stories that get you examining your life and asking questions you didn't know you had.
We all wear masks - every moment, everyday. We wear them so much that we can forget who we really are. If we're lucky, we come across stories like this that sparks our intellect, allows us to take our masks off and see our true selves.
Becoming, tells the tale of an angry and entitled Jacob Price. A university student who is convinced he is owed more than he has received and demands it from his professor.
Professor Magus sets out to teach Jacob more than he ever wanted to learn. He wanted knowledge because it represented freedom and power but what he got was struggle and pain with the ultimate truth beckoning just out of reach.
There are no easy answers and the answers that we do get are born of struggle and pain. The only truth is to stand in your own power.
The story takes you from darkly intense to a bittersweet ending with art and colours by Dane Cypel and Sara Machajewski carrying the reader through each emotional shift beautifully.
It's a high octane, intelligent and terrifying ride...hold on!
