A great book,
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Become a Ventriloquist (Try Your Hand at Ventriloquism) (Paperback)
I am a professional children's entertainer, many years ago I bought a vent puppet and in the privicy of my own bedroom, spent may hours talking to it, it never talked back to me so I put him away to take out on a rainy day.I was given this book as a present and after a lot of study with it, I now use my puppet in my act, and he has taken on a life of his own. This book is packed full of good ideas, sample scripts and of course, the rudimentary basics of ventriloquism. When ever somebody asks me how to learn to be a ventriloquist, this is one of the two books I recomend!

The book I purchased was not only exactly what I wanted, but the description was "spot on" ! The service was exemplary, and, being disabled, being able to purchase exactly what I wanted from the comfort of my own home was a bonus. Full marks all round ! :-)

Bergen and McCarthy, Our History and Art of Ventriloquism,
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: How to Become a Ventriloquist (Hardcover)
Edgar Bergen takes us on a personal voyage through his world and beyond, Ventriloquism. Bergen tells us "there is no deep, dark mystery about Ventriloquism" and exposes the secrets and Illusions of Near and Distant Ventriloquism, figure making as well as the start of his showbiz companion Charlie McCarthy. A book well worth reading and a history worth knowing.

Old school book for the modern age,
By Christopher J. Blakeslee - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: How to Become a Ventriloquist (Try Your Hand at Ventriloquism) (Paperback)
From the get go, when you open the first page you can tell this book was written long ago. It is full of good info on the art of Ventriloquism, and handpuppets or stage performance. I think given the age it was written, you must take the jems of knowlege and try and apply them to today as best you can. I did like the brief history on the art, also Edgar Bergin, was the top of his day. His daughter should be proud of him. I think if you can look past the time this was written, you will enjoy the read.
