San Francisco business woman Liana Robeson worries about her teenage son Matthew flying alone. Still, she dutifully places the lad on the plane heading to La Guardia so he can spend time camping in Maine with his father Cullen Llwellyn, whom she left ten years ago. Her neat world abruptly collapses when an irate Cullen calls, demanding to know why their son was not on the plane. A shocked Liana insists she saw him board the plane. Both conclude that Matthew vanished somewhere between San Francisco and New York.
Liana and Cullen join together in a frantic search for their son. They soon realize that the infamous Pearl of Great Price, currently owned by Liana, is the target of a deadly, but unknown assailant. For the past century, the pearl found near Australia seems to have led to avarice and murder between the families. Matthew appears to be the next victim. Unless his parents, who still love each other, can stop the curse from being implemented by a dangerous, greedy culprit, Matthew is in deep trouble
