About the Artist
Eddie Hinton is the great-unsung guitar-playing hero of real, raw an' emotional Southern music. A brilliant, gifted guitarist, vocalist and session player, songwriter, arranger and producer, his career spanned almost 30 years but was marred by bad luck, lack of recognition and serious personal problems. His songs were recorded by Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack, Dusty Springfield, John Hammond Jnr, Percy Sledge, The Box Tops to name a few. He played guitar at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and appears on an amazing array of Soul, Rock, and Rhythm and Blues recordings that were produced there. Maybe now at last he is getting his just dues, Cameron Crowe's latest movie ElizabethTown features one of Hinton's song 'Yeah Man' and a film documentary on Eddie Hinton is now in production. Eddie Hinton died in 1995 of heart failure. He had just turned 51 years old.
