The box set is brilliant and slightly addictive!
However the final book refers to a short story that was written to fit between book 2 and 3 quite a lot, the short story is nearly impossible to find!!
But definitely a good read and would recommend it to anyone who loves magic :)

F.Y.I the short story is called Dream Dark and is available as a free e-book but doesn't seem to have gone to print :)

These books are great for teens who liked twilight or the hunger games. They're a headlong read from start to finish. If you are not into love stories though then this is not for you. Kami Garcia needs a big clap on the back for the hard work that she put into these books because it has definetly paid off.

The Beautiful Creatures Saga is unbelievably gripping. You read the first novel Beautiful Creatures, and it's almost impossible to leave them alone. I managed to read all four books within five days; some could say that's a great achievement but I have a different reason.
The narrative was incredibly repetitive and so I found myself skimming the story line, but then I was regretting skimming as I wanted the most out of the characters Lena and Ethan.

So maybe, it's not superbly written, but that could just be a personal opinion.
Characters, did not seem realistic, there was barely any descriptions, and I had no idea what Ethan looked like, apart from he was meant to be the "high school jock" who all the girls loved, but he was too good for them and wanted to be different, apart from that, I used my imagination to picture up my perfect "Ethan", this is very wise of the authors, as therefor more people can picture their "dream" guy, but to others, it just seemed as if they were not interested. All we know is that he wears "chucks" and his hair covers his eyes... Where can you go from there? Lena, the Dark and Light Caster, is another character which seemed out of place, her black curly hair, her boots and gothic clothing, and charm necklace. It's not enough to describe what a character is wearing, but I think the authors needed to include more features such as the tone of her skin, the shape of her face, body, hands, so we could picture these characters more clearly. (oh of course she smelt like lemons and rosemary...)

At times, the plot really does seem like a cliché high school movie, *!*not-so-exciting-spoiler*!* such as 1) Lena and Ethan, getting drenched in soggy confetti at the high school dance.

I've spent my last few weeks reading The Caster Chronicles. At first I didn't dare to pick these books up because I somehow knew that they will give birth to yet another string of sleepless nights. But as it always happens it doesn't matter what I do there is no escaping my fate. I've read the over 2000 pages in a rough three days and nights so everything sort of passed in a blur.
It's hard to say what makes this book a "good" book for me as I've certainly read much better before. I won't say it's my favourite book even tough we've spent quite a few intimate, sometimes forbidden moments "together". As my favourite book is always the next book and since the next book in most cases really means two-three books going on at the same time, this is not my favourite book, but it certainly is one of those books that will stay with me for a very long time. When I read this I felt that I was being drawn into the story. I sort of started paying attention and wanted to know more and more and explore the story myself and the next thing I know I am standing on top of the water tower looking down on the not so ordinary world of Gatlin. There is magic in these stories. The only other time I've experienced similar feelings was about twenty years ago when I was going over The Never Ending Story and I was convinced that I had to muster all my courage to save the world of stories from disappearing into darkness. That was also the book that convinced me that reading wasn't a useless activity. It was also the year when my sports career ended rather unceremoniously after being declared unfit for lengthy physical activity.

So here we are at the gates of the Caster world and the question is not, if I will enter, but when.

I got this because I saw the film being advertised and fancied reading the book before seeing the film. I keep it to read in spare minutes, ie whilst waiting outside the school to collect a child. It has now been brought inside and follows me around until I forget where I was last reading it! In other words I love it a gripping read, bits seem a little long winded but generally really keeps my attention!

Really enjoyed these books because I had all 4 I didn't have to wait for the next book to come out.
Beautiful Creatures book was far better than the film to the extent I won't be going to see the next film if it comes out.
I read all 4 books within a week as I could put down & I have lent them to my friend and she is the same.
Good bit of escape reality reading with a good love story xx
