The Caster Chronicles are one of my favourite series of all time, then I read Beautiful Chaos and fell in love all over again with the whole world. I love all the characters, and I really care what happens to nearly each and every one of them. The plot-line was beautifully written and engaging from start to finish, and WOW what a cliffhanger at the end, I need another fix soon.
The story follows on where Beautiful Darkness leaves off. Lena and Ethan are trying to deal with the aftermath that the missing John Breed has left in his wake. Lena is still struggling to control her supernatural powers. They all start to school, which is you can imagine is eventful with Riley starting too. Link is getting all the attention from all the girls, which is going to cause World War 3 where Riley is concerned.
Everything is dying in Gatlin with the scorching heat and everyone's powers are out of wack, it is all a fallout of Lena breaking the balance. Amma has went off the deep end, she is using darker methods to ensure something, but as always there is a price to be paid.
Ethan has been hearing his shadow song again, he needs to figure out what it means and fast if he hopes to save the town and the ones he loves.
This book is so full of ups and downs and twists and turns, I was happy and teary throughout. The story develops so well and Lena really comes into her own. We get to hear from the darker characters more and get a bit more back story about some of them. Lena and Ethan's love has also developed, they are a joy to read about. I still can't get over the ending, I definitely have a love-hate relationship with the cliffhanger.
All I can say is what a fantastic read, I am so excited for the next, definitely a pre-order. There is not one thing about Beautiful Chaos that I didn't like. If you haven't already read The Caster Chronicles, you are seriously missing out, Go pick them up now. :)
I love all the characters but some of my favourites are:
Amma - Gosh, I love this woman, she makes me laugh so much, I wouldn't cross her, she is one fearsome lady.
Mercy, Prue and Grace - I love reading about their old fashioned way of doing things and the way they all bicker among each other. And of course their pronunciation of some words make me laugh out loud.

I bought the book because now ive started the series iv got to finish it! It took a couple of chapters for me to get into the story and from then on i was glued to it, mainly so i could see if my hypothesis for different parts were right or not.
This book focuses more on Ethan as he and those of Gatlin cope with the aftermath of Lenas claiming. Ethan begins to have disturbing dreams, starts forgetting things and cant understand whats happening to him . His mother sends the eighteenth moon song (which im getting bored of) and he tries to make sense of how itl help fix the growing chaos in Garlin. Eventually we learn that in order to fix the chaos Ethan has to make a sacrifice... The book ends on an interesting yet teary cliffhanger which will encourage you to buy the next book and i surely will to find out what happens next!
Some parts were really predictable but im hoping the series ends with a bang :) i was happy to see Liv and John Breed and loved how they fit into the story and i also loved the new role Link plays now hes Linkubus and all! Lets see what Garcia Stohl has in store for us with the next installment! All in all 4/5

I am really getting into this series now, I adored book 1 and rather enjoyed the second one and wasn't sure what to expect from this but I loved it. I found it full of suspense, action, excitement, love, hate everything. The characters have really grown and are having to deal with all sorts of different situations. Things start to get really crazy and I was turning the pages desperate for more.
Life has been turned upside down in Gatlin, an unexplained heat wave in late November, swarms of insects eating everything, earthquakes, arguments, it all happens here, is it the end of the world or something just as bad. Once again Ethan and Lena are thrown in over their heads along with Amma, Link, Macon & the other usual suspects. Ridley throws up a storm and Sarafine causes chaos.
I loved the suspense in this book the most, you would just think that Ethan and Lena had found a way to make things right when something else would crop up and throw them back to the beginning. I think this book is a bit darker than the first one, there are more deaths, problems and revelations than the others and things are really starting to get exciting.
I am now even more excited for the fourth book and I'm so happy it came in for me at the library today so I have it ready to dive straight into.
This series is definitely very exciting and I can't wait for more. But I do recommend you start at the beginning with Beautiful Creatures.

This is the third book in the Beautiful Creatures saga. I loved it!
I downloaded this book in audio format, as I wanted to read it, but didn't have time to. Having this book in audio format allowed me to listen to it whilst doing household chores, or before bedtime.
The story is again narrated by Kevin T. Collins, who does another fantastic job in bringing the characters alive. He gives each character their own personality and voice.
Ethan Wate is an extremely interesting character. I liked him very much. He is a sweet, loving young man, who happens to be a human in love with a Caster.
Lena Duchannes is a character I didn't really like in the first book. She had a "woe is me" attitude that really grated on my nerves. However, as this series has progressed, she has grown on me. Maybe it has something to do with her attitude change now she has claimed herself.
This story continues from the end of the second book. I liked the fact that this story was again told from Ethan's point of view. I was hooked from the first few minutes of the chapter.
Lena has claimed herself, but in the process "the order of things" has been broken. This means that Gatlin is suffering through a heat wave and an infestation of lubbers (a type of grasshopper similar to a locust). However, this is the least of Ethan's problems. He is still hearing music and finds out that it's a shadowing song (a message from his mother in the Other World). Meanwhile, Link has a problem of his own. After the fight with Abraham Ravenwood and then being bitten by John Breed, Link finds out that he is now an Incubus (he is now calling himself a Linkubus!). I loved this character's attitude to finding out that he is now supernatural. If I was him I would have freaked out a bit more, but I loved his cheerful acceptance; he is one cool dude! I also loved getting to know the Great Aunts better! Their constant bickering made me laugh, but you could feel the love behind their comments and complaints. There are several twists and turns in this story, which kept me enthralled, but there is one HUGE twist that I did, unfortunately, see coming near the end of the book. However, this twist is still shocking in it's finality and left me in tears. I am now looking forward to reading/listening to Beautiful Redemption as soon as possible, to find out what happens next!
Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl make a great writing team. Their writing style has improved a lot since the first book, and it is more fast paced. The story also flows better and is much smoother. I would definitely read more of their books in the future.
I highly recommend this book if you love YA or Paranormal Romances. - Lynn Worton

2.5 stars. I'm disappointed with this book. I thought that this series was getting better but its gone back to being very average.
I'm not going to try to sum up the storyline because it is IMPOSSIBLE. This series has simply become too complicated and difficult to follow. I spent most of this book bewildered and confused. The main storyline just branched off onto too many other threads, most of which didn't make sense and weren't resolved or explained very well. There were riddles all the way through that Ethan was trying to solve but again, most of those were left unsolved and many of the characters were discovering stuff and then (for some unknown reason) keeping their discoveries from the other characters. Highly annoying! I started to forget who knew what and why. This book gave me a headache!
Lets look at positives though. I still LOVE Link. He's funny and straightforward (about the only character who IS!) and his new life as an Incubus - or Linkubus, is interesting to read about... But as with previous books, he did not get enough page time. I'm happy that he is getting a spin off series at least. Also, the ending did redeem the book a little for me, it was very dramatic and one of the worst (i.e. best) cliff hangers I've ever read. But again, these 'positives' did not make up for the fact that this book is seriously bad in most other aspects.
I will read the fourth and final book Beautiful Redemption because I do want to know what happens in the end but also because I just want to put this series behind me now. Its not been the best but I really do hope that it ends on a high.
Oh and one last thing - Amma... this character is possibly the single most annoying character ever written, in ANY book, and I hope she snuffs it in the final book! Nuff said.

Having lost myself within Ethan and Lena's story, in which a Castor and a Mortal being are forbidden to be together, I was eagerly awaiting to find out what happens next. This saga seeps into your subconscious similarly to Stephanie Meyer's `Twilight' as it takes hold, for your heart feels like it is being ripped out of your chest! The drama, the twists in the tale and the intense passion between the two main characters is just tantalizing, as you are left drained of all emotion due to the overwhelming storyline that is so dramatic. You will be gripping the pages so tightly until your knuckles turn white; your heart will be pounding in your chest as the words percolate your mind with such potency!!
This is a hauntingly delicious dark fantasy story with a creepy, spinechilling twist that will have you sat on the edge of your seat in suspense. Character-driven this magical, extraordinary world is brought brilliantly to life, as you are swept away by the mystery, the romance and the danger that is lurking beneath the shadows. Totally bewitching and spellbinding, Ethan Wate and Lena Duchannes powerful, deep love is just magnetic and which makes this tantalizing tale one that you will never forget. Mesmerizing, captivating and hypnotic this romantic Romeo & Juliet love story touches your heart and soul; as Ethan and Lena are two characters whom really stand-out in fiction as being unique & memorable.
Ethan Wate is in love. He is in love with a Castor girl. When he looks at Lena, it's like there is no one else in the world...
But Ethan is a mortal, and on Lena's seventeenth birthday she makes a choice that changes everything. The girl Ethan loves has broken the world with the supernatural powers she is struggling to control. Now, if they are to fix the chaos that Lena has caused, one of them must make a terrible SACRIFICE. Sometimes there isn't just one answer, but sometimes there's no going back and this time there won't be a happy ending.
This heartrending read is so addictive that I found myself picking up the next book in the series almost instantly after reading this one, as I was desperate to find out the conclusion to this epic tale. Reading in a feverish frenzy, I was left breathless only able to utter one word to describe my thoughts `WOW'. This is the most exciting, absorbing and dramatic supernatural Young Adult love story I have EVER encountered, and which I rate extremely high for it is exceptional within this genre. . Will they risk everything for love? Can a mortal being and a Castor truly be together or will the enemy and danger that surrounds them, threaten to pierce their hearts so as to destroy their love for each other? Lena and Ethan are pushed to breaking point as their relationship is tested to the very limits and which tugs at the heartstrings so that you end up bleeding inwardly, crying out in pain for the hero and heroine.
* I would like to thank `A Dream of Books' blog for hosting a book giveaway of the entire series, with book 1 being Beautiful Creatures and for the publisher Puffin*

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's book, Beautiful Chaos, is the third in the series called the Caster Chronicles. The story begins with Ethan reflecting the past summer and everything that happened. The Order of Things was broken and the terrible consequences are starting to show. As Gatlin is swarmed with horrible creatures and thrown into a catastrophic heat wave, Lena and Ethan decide that they must fix what Lena did by choosing both dark and light and therefore destroying the Order. However they soon find out it is going to be a lot harder than they first anticipated. With the help of Link, Liv and the suspicious John Breed, they must find the "One Who Is Two" by the eighteenth moon or Gatlin and the rest of the mortal world will be thrown into pure chaos.
I would personally say that this is the best book so far in the series. I found it incredibly hard to put down and ended up reading around eleven chapters a day! (which is a lot for me). I highly recommend it to anyone between the ages of 12 and 21 (or slightly over) who likes to read fantasy and fiction. It is a great book and I can't wait to read the last one.

Like everyone else, once you start reading this series you can not stop!
I love how each book carries on from the next! this means that you never get confused about where you are in the story!
Ethan is still the narrator and this makes the emotions that he feels when Lena returns even more powerful. We no longer have to hear it from the girls point of view and just get a jist, we really feel it this time!
Lena is back in the story as the good kid which is nice as the series didnt feel right without her. The characters John and Liv are turning into some of my favourite! They are the typical highschool couple which is nice even though liv is ex Keeper and John is, well, John isnt even sure!
This book is fantastic and i have just started the last in the series! I know that I will be sad when they are all finished but at the same time i have to find out what happens!
Happy Reading Folks :)

I stumbled across the 4 books in this series after seeing trailers for the film Beautiful Creatures - not my usual type of reading (Im either reading Man Booker list nominees or lately any great nordic noir in the style of The Killing or The Bridge or Borgen.) But I love these books! The first one is more the boy meets girl type storyline but still well written and engaing - the second one really gets going on the plot and this third one just takes the plot up a notch...a mix of Harry Potter type spells and 'magic', Twilight romance and doomed relationships, all mixed in with Southern USA state history and intrigue and 'dark' magic and superstition. Its certainly not just for young adults - Im 41 and the books rank in my personal top 20 for great memorable reads.

I read this soooo fast! Think I missed half of what was going on because I was so keen to get to the conclusion, I needed it to be fixed! Cant say much without ruining conclusion of beautiful darkness, but this was great! Again, totally different, its amazing that the writers have almost created a different world for each book. You are practically jumping up and down in your seat to hurry things along and see what happens. Just enough bittersweet to pull you in without the heaviness of beautiful darkness. Just exciting!
If any of you are reading reviews after seeing the movie, PLEASE read the books! I loved the actors in the movie, but they messed up the storyline royally, I nearly walked out I was so mad! The books are soooo much better!
