This is a beautifully crafted costume drama. James Purefoy is superb in the lead role, with Hugh Bonneville as a wonderfully credible Prince Regent. Whilst this film starts with a light, humorous, almost frothy, quality, the tone of the film gradually becomes darker as Brummell's situation becomes more desperate. It will reward repeated watching - in fact, some references early on in the film have more meaning watching a second time around.

Excellent.

In addition, whilst this DVD is described as "Region 1", I actually believe the disc to be Region 0 (ie: region free), as it played fine on my Region 2 (UK, Japan, Europe) player.

A very watchable version of the Beau's life. Very different from the Stewart Granger version, but still a good film.

Loosely based on the Ian Kelly novel-which I must admit is preferred.
