A nice overview of Potter's work that includes studies of insects, nature, found objects. You really see a terrific artist here that I think is underestimated by artists who follow the school of serious content over technical ability. Always great to see the artistic power behind an illustrator known for children's books. When my cynical students sniff at lack of content and fluff as not being true art, I have them copy Potter's renderings of animals and her amazing drawing techniques. They end up with a new found respect. This book adds variation to the understanding of her work as well as an appreciation of her commitment to preservation of land, which was her greatest contribution. Nice plates, various studies in pen, graphic, watercolor and oil. Recommend.
