Review

Like pop culture Peter Pans, authors Schreuders, Lewisohn, and Smith lead readers by the hand in a fanciful flight across time and over London to the places and settings touched by the Beatles and seared into our collective memory. Exceptionally written and researched, this unique and fascinating volume will captivate fans and armchair travelers of all ages. Highly recommended. --John Bengtson, www.silenttraces.net

Product Description

Where did John, Paul and George try to post Ringo into a letterbox?Which railway stations were locations in 'A Hard Day's Night?''Where was 'I Am The Walrus' filmed? They may have been born in Liverpool, but London was the Beatles' home away from home; the place where they really grew into their roles as international musical and cultural icons. Subsequently, all over the city, there are sites which represent a significant shared moment in the history of the band, and that of London."The Beatles London" is a celebration of those places, both a guide book and a treasure trove of Beatles' nuggets. This unique and fascinating book details how London and the Beatles were, and always be, connected together at the time of a great social and cultural shift.Originally published in 1994, this new edition has been full updated and reformatted, and includes a section on 'Beatles walks' to take across the capital.

5.0 out of 5 stars RIGHT HERE'S A THING OF BEAUTY..., 1 May 2008
By M. R. Downham "Some Other Guy" (Epsom, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For the London-based Beatles fan, this is pretty near perfection. A welcome update of the 1990's edition, the new format showcases all the old familiar places and, alas, details the sites that have been swept away since (EMI House, West Malling Airfield etc). Whilst there are a lot of houses, venues, pubs, clubs, recording studios and offices listed, this is not a dry directory of locations - the text is engaging and the book reflects the enthusiasm of the authors. Treat yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent detailed Beatles London history, 8 Jul 2009
By Frances Anne Clayton - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I recently did a full day Beatles tour of Liverpool (which was awesome), but I was based in London at the top end of Baker street, in the heart of original Beatle land. It was awesome to know that the paths I was walking all through London, were the same pathways that the Beatles walked. This book is an awesome detailed account of their lives. It's like recreating my experiences all over again.
