Perfect for me,

I don't quite know how, but being in my mid 40's and very much enjoying both the Beatles music and the many bands who have been influenced by them over the years, without being a hardcore fan, I own precisely one album on cd, being "1" (No. 1?). Probably something to do with pricing/availability of the albums over the years, the remastered series was a perfect opportunity to re-acquaint myself with their music, but what to buy? The whole set and 'mono' v 'stereo' argument is all a bit beyond me as a more casual fan, especially as my preference has always been the later, more 'mature' sounding albums (just my preference, no offence meant!), this mini box set was absolutely perfect for me. I will probably supplement it with one or two other albums but 3 of these albums would definitely have been the 3 I started with, so very happy with this purchase. By the way the music and packaging are both fantastic.

There are many boxed sets that bring you a handful of albums by an artist. Sadly the selection of albums in these sets is usually arbitrary. One often reads of Bowie's Berlin trilogy but you can't pick them up easily in a nice box set or even find them in the shop.
This set is a breath of fresh air, featuring as it does the last four zeniths from the greatest group in popular music. Though ignoring the "white" album (a double and certainly where to go to next), this is the perfect place to start on the real albums for those that only have compilations. This set also includes many famous songs that were left off the red and blue albums: 'Here There & Everywhere', 'Got To Get You Into My Life', 'She's Leaving Home' and 'When I'm 64'. The four discs here also give a far deeper representation of the group than any compilation: witness the profoundly influential 'Tomorrow Never Knows' on 'Revolver'; the swirling psychedelia of 'Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite!' from 'Sgt Pepper'; and the second half of 'Abbey Road', which many people will tell you is the greatest ever album side. All four of these masterpieces will appear in any top 30 greatest albums poll and the CDs are the latest remastered editions in beautiful cardboard digipaks with extensive shiny booklets. In short, a definitive music package.

Kerchhhinggggggggggggggggg!,

It MUST be Christmas coming up, whatever next? A way of getting some more sales on Beatles product.. they'll be dressing them up with free Easter eggs a few months later, you watch.
3 stars? Well 5 stars for the content, it's stunningly remastered, and marvellous music, as many will agree... but one for the ploy behind this latest issue (I'm sure some Fabs' fans will need to buy it for the completist amongst them, but I'm not one of them now, I'm glad to say).
