While leading us through a thought-provoking intellectual ride, Paul A. Laudicina also allows us to take a glimpse at his very compelling personal and professional journey to date. For those who know him, his new book, Beating the Global Odds, feels like a fireside chat at his best, where he has invited many of his exceptional friends along, who are each thought leaders in their respective fields. The book is a wonderful guide for today's business leaders and a fascinating read for anyone who is trying to make sense of our "over-loaded" world to move forward.

I am enjoying this book. Paul Laudicina has done a great job of diagnosing some of the mental obstacles to effective decision making and leadership in a world that is becoming continuously more complex, more interconnected and moving ever faster. A well written book that is easy to read and hard to put down, Beating the Global Odds provides provocative insights and good advice: an excellent mix of how to think and what to do about it!

Global thinking at your fingertips... 21 Nov. 2012
By Anna Maria Krasniewska - Published on
Format: Hardcover
If you've heard Paul Laudicina speak at noted global fora such as the World Economic Forum or the Global Business Policy Council, you'll already be familiar with the captivating way that Mr. Laudicina combines breadth and depth of issues, with just the right touch of anecdotes based on his years of experience to feel inspired to think harder and think better about global issues facing private and public sectors. If you haven't been lucky enough to hear him in person, this book offers absolutely the next best thing. Drawing on his own interactions with some of the most foremost thinkers of our time, this book helps deliver a well-rounded interpretation of the uncertain events around us, and Mr. Laudicina offers a straightforward recipe for how to operationalize decisions to move forward, rather than stand still. Pick up this book for your next flight; unlike most business books, you won't want to put it down until you land.

Solutions-focused strategic thinking about a complex world 19 Nov. 2012
By Vijay Rajendran - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Beating the global odds, is a clearly written and refreshing look at the world we live in. When other authors have taken us on a tour of our complex world, they list problems. Ultimately, they have left us only more anxious about the future. We are too often wondering how to organize a complex world and then how to live in it. In contrast, Paul Laudicina is solutions-focused and offers alternatives. If you've been scratching your head lately, this book will be of great use. Its wisdom is rare and its lessons are too important to be ignored.

Fresh perspective on thinking about the future 27 Dec. 2012
By E Wynne Rumpeltin - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Beating the Global Odds starts with a premise that is well known - its backdrop is the unprecedented global volatility and information explosion of the last few years - but then it takes the reader down an unexpected path, drawing on everything from the rise of the Brazilian economy to the remaking of companies like Nestle and Volkswagen to even insights from Keith Richards. It doesn't claim to predict the future, but rather Laudicina presents some concrete tools for how to vary your information diet and question conventional wisdom in order to gain key insights and plan for the future in the right way. This is the kind of book that makes you question some of your long held assumptions and while it presents a realistic picture about how things are today, it also offers a fresh sense of what might be possible tomorrow.
