This book ties in with the BBC programme 'Beat Route' where Jools Holland goes to six cities to explore their music. Although it isn't just the music you get out of this book, but you feel, "the life and soul of each city", due to Jools Holland's wonderful personality.
I have enjoyed reading this book a number of times, as it is interesting as well being quite funny in places. My favourite thing about this book though, is that it is wrote personally and it is crammed full of magnificent photo's from Beirut, Seville, Havana, Dublin, Chicago and Budapest. In my opinion I feel that any one could read this book as long as they had a slight interest in music, but if not it is still well worth reading! It doesn't matter if you haven't seen the series because you can still imagine the places with the text and a few photos'. This book has made me want to travel to these places as it is described so well, it takes you on an unforgettable journey. Overall I fell that this book is amazing and one that I will treasure forever.
