5.0 out of 5 stars Beat Officers Companion, 20 April 2003
I bought this book with the intention of reading it and finding conflicting information when I ask about it with collegues. But alas no! The information is spot on. Indeed there is everything an officer would need to know, whether you are special constable, a probationer or an officer of numerous years. It doubles as a learn as you go book and a reference book for when you need to check when you are just not 100% sure.

And as well as all that, the material at the back of the book about post-arrest care, statements and interviews is just superb.

Highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase!!!!, 15 Jul 2001
As a probationary Police Constable, being able to remember all the definitions that a Constable needs every day during service can sometimes be a tricky task. I bought this book for use during police national training and it is possibly the most convenient and best laid out book I purchased. Definitions are simple to read and understand using flow charts and diagrams, this book is a must for all probationary Police Constables.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing on SOCPA (kinda relavent), 22 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Folks, like the previous old sweat has mentioned (and I say this with all due respect), please wait until a copy that IS up to date has been issued. This copy does not cover the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 which replaces COPPLAN and effectively changes in our powers of arrest. It's still useful as a reference in terms of legislation such as looking up Search Powers and Off Weap offences, Especially if your a Safer Schools Officer. I've got the 10th Edition and it does help as a quick reference and to clarify some of the legislation for those of you still doing exams at training school.

For any new officer this is a handy reference of reasonable size to go in your kit bag when you are having a memory lapse. It's not cheap though but in my opinion worthwhile
