dealing with dyslexia 25 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The only quibble I have with this pack is the title - I am not convinced that people ever beat dyslexia - they learn to deal with it. That said, this pack includes a book and tape as well as alphabet, reading, writing and spelling cards - all items designed to support the recommended multi sensory approaches for teaching people with dyslexia. My dyslexic child who has spent her school life avoiding reading and ashamed of her written work with its mispellings, reversed letters and general untidiness now volunteers unprompted to do this dyslexia pack. She enjoys the repeated successes of the programme, with its small steps, with well practiced achievements and an overall record of progress. Over and above the progress she is making in her literacy skills I am most excited by the general attitude where she now believes that she can succeed not only in the literacy work but in the rest of her school work. The boost to self esteem achieved through the use of this pack is worth every bit as much as the academic progress she has made. We both thoroughly recommend this pack not only for those with dyslexia but for younger children just starting out in school.

This book is incredibly helpful for children aged 10 years and upwards to support reading and writing. It is best if they use all the scheme from Book 1 to get the best benefit from this system. It can be managed by parents and support staff in school.

Beat Dyslexia 23 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
This is the third book (in a series of six) which I have used with my 10-year-old granddaughter. She is making good progress. Her school knows that I am helping her and has no objection as it doesn't interfere with with the help she is getting there. These books are multi-sensory and make learning interesting and fun. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to help a dyslexic child.
