More About the Author

Adam Blade is in his late twenties, and was born in Kent, England. His parents were both history teachers and amateur artists, and Adam grew up surrounded by his father's paintings of historic English battles - which left a lifelong mark on his imagination. He was also fascinated by the ancient sword and shield that hung in his father's office. Adam's father said they were a Blade family heirloom. As a boy, Adam would spend days imagining who could have first owned the sword and shield. Eventually, he created a character - Tom, the bravest boy warrior of them all. The idea for Beast Quest was born. hen Adam grew up and decided that he wanted to be a writer, he was stuck for ideas - until he remembered the old sword and shield, and the imaginary boy he had created when he was young. Adam decided to bring Tom fully to life so that readers could go on the kind of adventures that he always wanted to when he was that age... And still does, even though he's grown up! When he's not writing Beast Quest books, Adam enjoys visiting museums and ancient battle sites. His main hobbies are fencing and football. He also spends a lot of time at home running around after his two exotic pets - a tarantula named Ziggy, and a capuchin monkey named Omar. These little rascals were the inspiration for two of the Beasts that Tom faces on his Quest - Arachnid and Claw. adly, Adam does not have his own Fire-Dragon or Horse-Man. But he really wishes he did!

I bought these books for my seven year old son who loves all things magical. He's thoroughly enjoyed every one and is now on to the second series. They are great first time books to get them into the way of reading a book on their own and they don't take long to read so they don't lose interest.

It has always been a struggle to get my 9 year old dyslexic son to read anything and suddenly one day he came home from school and asked (yes, actually asked!) us to get him a set of books call Beast Quest - some of his friends had been reading and talking about them at school and that had got him interested.

Not wanting to let an opportunity like this pass, we duly ordered the first set of books. My son now wants to read, even to the point of going to bed early so that he can read them out loud to me! Being dyslexic reading them is quite a slow process, but that dosen't matter - it's the fact that he's trying and has a new found enthusiasm for reading that's so great.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

This was a birthday gift for my 5 year old son and he loooves the books. It is a good step up from picture books for bed time reading. The story line is fairly standard but that makes it simple enough for him to follow and he likes the fact that they are 'cool'. They are, however, still a little too advanced for his 3 year old brother. I guess they will also be good for a slightly older child to practise reading on his/her own. While the books probably are directed towards boys, girls can also read them and the second character is a girl.

We bought this first series after my 6 year old son's friend got into them and loved them. The first book I read to him, the 2nd book we took turns reading, the 3rd book we suggested he try reading himself. Once he realised he could read it he didn't put it down - he read the whole book over a weekend! Amazing! These really helped with encouraging him to read. I wasn't sure about the writing when I read the first one but soon realised it is perfect for younger readers - the repeating characters, similarity in plot lines and continuing story mean they can get to grips with them fast as they get used to words and names. For being the first book that got my son reading, I give these 5 stars! Brilliant.

This is a fantastic set of books for children aged 8-12 years to read. It is a very adventurous and exciting series which seems to catch the readers attention so that they cant read fast enough. Maybe they should become school books.I can fully recommend the complete series.

My son is five and just gone into Year 1. We started reading the first one in this series to him and were stunned to walk into his room one morning to find that he'd picked it up himself and was reading it independently just because he didn't have the patience to wait for us. His reading has just taken off since then we think largely due to these books.

Our 8 year old Grandson is suddenly interested in reading books - we all are thrilled :-)))

He loves dragons and dinosaurs and this kind of books is just up his road.

They are full of adventures and if your child/grandchild doesn't like reading this kind of books might just do the trick - and there are many so they can keep on reading :-)).
