The Bears Bite Back is a humorous and wacky sequel to Goldilocks and the Three Bears and takes up the story where the old classic finished. The three bears are fuming after the ringleted prowler has left their place in disarray. They quickly decide to get their own back by following the intruder's footprints and marching over to her house to eat her food, break her furniture and sleep in her bed! Cillydirella, the second story in the book, is an upbeat version of Cinderella. Suitable for reading age 8 and interest age 8 - 12
About the Author
Derek Keilty is a civil servant by day and a children's author by night. He published his first children's novel in 2003. He won an award in the Eason/Downtown Radio short story competition for best children's book and later that year, wrote and illustrated his children's story website www.keilty.btinternet.co.uk. He has recently commenced a programme of school author visits, which have proven very successful.

Read this to my 7 year old and he loved it. He was quite disappointed there were only 2 stories - he wanted more - which is always a good thing! When I was reading this, my son (and visiting, Mum), were both laughing regularly. I thought the first story about the bears out for revenge on Goldilocks was very entertaining and Cillyderella, the girl who loves breakdancing, was also a good spin on the Cinderella story.
My 7 year old also likes the Super Powers series by Alex Cliff (actually he absolutely loved these books) and Pokemon chapter books by Tracey West.
