I thought the book was absolutely brilliant, hence the title, and I think, in my humble opinion, that it was one of Terry's best ever books, although there are so many wonderful books to choose between. I thought the way he tied the Genesis series, via this instalment, towards the start of the main Shannara books was extremely clever. We now know the fate of Cat and Panther or do we ? Loads of new, complex and interesting characters (goodies and baddies).
No spoilers here and I cannot wait for the next instalment.
Rest assured, if you like this genre, you will absolutely adore this book.
Big plus to Amazon, I received the book two days earlier than I expected it, so a huge bonus.

Terry Brooks brings all the threads from his previous novels together, not as complex as his others but just as enthralling as usual.
Would definately recomend for fans and novice Terry Brooks readers alike!

for anyone who enjoys terry brookes this is another great set of adventures. i didnt like the 'the knight of the word ' series, too dark. but these are excellent

I think the Shannara series was more on my wavelenght
but overall I still found this series The Bearers of the Black Staff and The Measure of the Magic extremely hard to put down once i had gotten in too it. Read more
