Product: Bear Gryll's Climaplus Jacket by Craghopper (Steel Colored).
I got it today and took it with me for a hike in the mountains. The first thing I noticed about the jacket was its weight. It's feather light and really packable. I bought a large since I usually wear large t-shirts and while it did fit me, it didn't leave a lot of room. Although it's not advertised, it seems to be windproof because it was a little windy today and I didn't feel it through the fabric at all. I didn't get it wet, so I can't comment on its water repellant qualities, but it is made entirely of a fast-drying synthetic material. One little quirk is that the zipper is on the opposite side of what I'm used to. I'm not sure if that's because it's a European design or because I bought a women's version by mistake. Either way, I really like the "fitted" cut of the jacket and the way it looks.
It was about 40 degrees F out today. I wore a thermal undershirt with a synthetic t-shirt over it and the Climaplus over both. I got so hot during the hike, I had to take the jacket off for the trip back to the car. I think the jacket would be great for temps down to 30 degrees F, provided you have a thermal layer underneath and you're physically active while wearing it, but you may need a warmer jacket for temps below that, especially if you only intend to wear it around town. Also keep in mind that I've only tested it at 40 degrees, so I'm just speculating.
Overall I'd recommend the jacket if it's on sale. I got the steel colored version of this because it was nearly 50% less than the cooler-looking black version, but at that price point, it was a steal. I'm not sure that I would pay the full retail price for this jacket because I'm sure it bears a premium for carrying Bear Gryll's trademark (no pun intended). There may be better jackets for the same price, but definitely grab it while it's discounted if you can.
