5.0 out of 5 stars Facing fears is easier with friends 6 Sep 2014
By K. J. Noyes TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Board book
Such a warm and cosy series. Bear and his friends show and develop their loyalty over the course of these books and here, Bear gets lost on a stormy night. His friends know he must be scared so go out to help him.

The illustrations are adorable, the wild night is dark and wet, the cave warm, the bear and his friends cuddly.

The story and text are simple enough and the refrain catchy and well used. The ending is perfectly judged and a good opportunity for a bedtime cuddle. Great series, we are working our way through them all.

Great for children aged 2-6.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bear and his Friends 19 Nov 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I love the Bear series, some books are better than others, but we bought this to help our son who was going into hospital. The illustrations are lovely and the characters fun, however unrealistic the company of friends. Bear Snores on is still favorite in series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite Good. 22 Sep 2009
A nice book with lovely pictures and story but not quite as good as the Bear Snores On which is our favorite but this is still a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bear 30 Oct 2011
By nimrod
I bought this book to read to my 5-year old granddaughter since she is already familiar with the Gaelic version of the book (An t-Eagal, pub. Acair Books). We both like the story line and it is equally good in either language! The story allows for the child reader to feel scared before a safe, comforting ending. The illustrations are very, very good and an imaginative child can easily construct the story from just following the pictures.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Story 22 Sep 2008
By J. R. Nathaniel - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful story for any youngster from ages 3-8. The illustrations are magnificent and story lines rhyme and blend very well. This story is a good way to help your child overcome basic fears.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too dark for little ones! 6 Feb 2012
By 28AHWS - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
For those who love Karma Wilson/ Jane Chapman books like I usually do -- this one is not the same fun read. Though Wilson's rhythmic rhymes are still very good, the majority of Chapman's images and the story actually instill fear, leaving only a page or two at the end to soothing it. It's a shame-- I think they could've done a better job confronting childhood fears. I'm glad I read it before reading it to my 3 year old grandson. I don't think even at four he would benefit from this dark and too slow to comfort story. Wish I could return it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Karma Wilson 21 Aug 2008
By G. Marshall - Published on Amazon.com
I love all the Bear books from Karma. The rhythm and rhyming is excellent, making them such a joy to read. My older kids like to read along or at least read the title line in each verse, and the little ones like the beautiful illustrations. The story is great. For my kids it makes them feel good to know that even their trusted friend Bear gets scared, so they are not alone. I highly recommend this, and all of Mrs. Wilson's books.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little scary for wee ones 7 Jun 2012
By Ed & Julie Vickers - Published on Amazon.com
Bears Loose Tooth was a hit. It got grins all around when it was found in the Easter basket. Bear Feels Scared is a little scary though for wee ones, and I didn't realize how much at first. A good story, not for toddlers, more for kindergarten and up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute and sweet, but gives no solutions 23 Jan 2010
By M. Amos - Published on Amazon.com
My husband and I fell in love with the adorable illustrations and the sweet characters portrayed in "Bear Feels Scared". We thought it might help soothe our preschooler who is too afraid to fall asleep on his own. However, the story offers no resolution for Bear's fears. He does ultimately feel safe, but only because his friends are also worried and come to find him. This does not lend itself to soothing our son's bedtime fears or give him tools to feel less scared. The story remains cute and loveable, but it has not become a favorite as we thought it might.
