This collar is truly amazing. I bought this collar for a strong Labrador, who would normally pull your arm off on the way to the park, until he was allowed off his lead. At first, he didn't really like the halter being around his nose, so after putting it on I gave him a treat. Whilst we were inside, he tried to get the halter off, but once we got walking he wasn't too worried about it. The difference was instant and incredible. He did not pull at all, and walked very nicely at my side. He was like a new dog. The first day I just kept the collar on for a few a few minutes and gradually built up the time. He will now wear the collar quite happily for longer periods. It really is the kindest way to retrain your dog to stop pulling. Highly recommended. I bought the medium sized one for the Labrador and have just ordered a small size one for a friend's smaller dog. The collar is easily adjustable to fit around the nose and the neck. If you are unsure about which size to order, choose by the nose size of your dog and the breeds suggested for the relevant size. It is important to get the adjustment right. Follow the instructions and make sure the collar section fits fairly tight high up near the back of the dog's head. Make sure it is not too tight by testing that you can fit two fingers under the collar comfortably. If the collar is too loose, it will not be as effective.

Having my own dog walking business, i thought it was worth me testing out training products to see if i could better advise my clients. I bought the medium as this would best suit various clients dogs and my 2 collies. Although it did take them a bit to get used to having something around their mouth next to their eyes restricting them from pulling ahead when excited, both are now walking to heel on their way to their favourite play grounds. I dont use it all the time as i know it is not overly comfortable for them, and although they are well trained to walk by my side, if they have had to wait for their walk, together they do pull a bit. It is very useful to have a clip at the back of the head for easy release, but i find this size does rub my small collies eyes unless i keep moving it down the nose so I will get a smaller one for my dogs.

Does exactly what it says on the box. I would in future purchases choose Gentle Leader over Halti which tends to drift towards the eyes.

the gentle leader was discovered by chance encounter with a family walking their dog.being the same breed (springer spaniel),this dog was walking quietly on the lead,My wife asked if it had been for training?.no,this behavior was attributed to this collar which we had not heard of before.they kindly offered to try this on our dog,who for the past 3 yrs has tried to pull my wife off her feet causing aching arms, back, shoulders etc.The immediate effect was incredible, having tried various other "cures"with no effect, this was amazing. Our COLLAR arrived today, tried it out this afternoon, and after the initial pawing at it, trying to push it off, each time taking his mind off it with a "treat" IT WAS WORKING!.For the first time ever ,he walked without pulling.I genuinely recommend this collar to anyone who has been suffering with this problem.

I own a Siberian Husky. I came home one day and discovered my son had brought it home. Knowing nothing about owning Huskies, I looked up the internet. The advice was simply: Don't get a Husky! He was a nightmare to walk and my wife couldn't control him because of his sheer strength. We tried everything from harnesses to short leashes and long leashes. Still no joy, until one day we were out for a walk and met someone with a big dog and a gentle leader type of lead, engaging his head.

We had tried everything else so we invested in one. Well, once we had figured out how it goes on - not that hard really when you read the instructions carefully - we had a totally new experience in walking our dog. I went round the first time muttering to myself, 'Sheer brilliance, sheer brilliance!'

The Gentle Leader controls the head and therefore gives you control of his body. He is unable to transfer his power from from his head to the strong body and legs; it's a bit like putting a bridle on a horse.

Now my wife can take him out on her own, the dog enjoys the walk just as much and it in no way hurts or harms him.I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who had trouble with a strong-willed, strong-bodied dog. It works a treat. Thankyou for developing this product. It really is the perfect solution.

I am a Dog Trainer in Stockport and i rate the beaphar gentle leader very highly! Not only is it excellent at stopping pulling but as an added extra, the gentle pressure behind the ears really does seem to calm dogs.
As with any training product though, not everything works for every dog. I've worked in rescue for 3 years and use head collars a lot. I feel that different dogs respond to different training tools and some dogs simply do not like the gentle leader! My advice would be to try it for a week or so, introducing it slowly and giving treats and praise when your dog does wear it. Only taking it off when your dog is calm rather than when they try to get it off themselves. You may just find that a training tool like the gentle leader can reduce your own stress and anxiety on walks so much that your relationship with your dog increases massively due to the fact you now enjoy walking together!
My parents can now comfortable walk my 18 month old lab (very strong!) and i feel confident he will not pull them over.
For me the gentle leader is a management tool - I still advice heel work training, but when it is not possible to actively train your dog to walk on a loose lead - the gentle leader makes an excellent management tool to keep walks enjoyable!
