Amazon.co.uk Review

Translating Rowan Atkinson's Mr Bean character from British television to the big screen takes a bit of a toll, but there are some hilarious sequences in this popular comedy. The eponymous Bean, a boy-man twit with a knack for getting into difficult binds (and then making them worse and worse and worse), is a London museum guard who is sent to Los Angeles in the company of the famous painting Whistler's Mother. He's mistaken as an art expert by the well-meaning curator (Peter MacNicol) of an LA museum, but Bean's famously eccentric behaviour soon causes the poor guy to almost lose his family and job. The insularity of Bean's TV world is sacrificed in this film, and that change diminishes some of the character's appeal. But Atkinson is a man naturally full of comedy, and he doesn't let his fans down. --Tom Keogh

I've never been a massive fan of Mr Bean but this is one of my favourite films! I often stick it in the DVD player when I need a good laugh and it never fails to have me in stitches! I have to say though that Rowan Atkinson is almost eclipsed by the wonderful Peter MacNicol (of TV's Ally McBeal fame) who is equally hilarious, in a more subtle, understated way, especially in the scene when his character discovers what Mr Bean has done to the painting of Whistler's Mother following an unfortunate and very ill-timed sneeze! Wonderful!

Atkinson's hapless Bean hits the big screen.
No getting away from it, to fully immerse oneself with this comedy it really helps if you are familiar with the character of Mr Bean in the first place. Read more

One or two good jokes. Two and a half stars.
Two good songs:

He's a rebel and the Beach Boys spoilt by the Beatles and some junk music at the end.

The sound editor must be crazy. Read more

Mr Bean is great
I enjoyed this quite a lot but it is not as good as the new one when he goes to France. The best bit is when he fiddles with the controls on the ride. Highly recommended.

Bean is Usually a near silent character
Don't get me wrong here , this movie is absolutely hilarious in some parts , but half of those parts were taken from the TV - series and recycled again into this movie. Read more
