It's hard to not like the pretty little designs in this book. The jewellery is dainty in appearance, the colours are well-coordinated and nothing is ever really too loud or garish. There are a variety of necklaces/pendants, brooches, earring and rings for you to try. The designs make use of seed beads as well as a variety of round, teardrop and different faceted beads - the author uses semi-precious, glass and pearl and the combinations work well together.
I would say that for the most part, the colour diagrams are easy enough to follow. However, I would also point out that just like the jewellery, the diagrams are pretty dainty themselves and it is sometimes difficult to figure out which bead to pick up and in which direction you're supposed to be going in. It hasn't put me off though; you just need to concentrate and double check what you're doing. Nothing is overly complicated and the designs are certainly achievable even if you are relatively new to beading.
This is the fourth book in the series and I also have the original book (
Bead Fantasies: Beautiful Easy-to-make Jewellery) which is very similar in tone. Admittedly I do prefer the first book - not entirely sure why: perhaps the designs were just that little bit more inspiring or maybe working through this book, I felt like I'd seen it all before. Either way, I would suggest if you haven't tried Bead Fantasies before, go for the original book first instead of this one; if you have already enjoyed others in the series, you will no doubt enjoy this one too as the designs are similar. I will definitely order the second and third books in the series at some point because I like delicate-looking jewellery and you certainly get this here!
