Jon's book covers the full range of ingredients that are required to compete at the highest level, and explains each element in a very focused, practical and accessible manner. By encouraging sailors to analyse their own performance to a detailed level, this book will enable both "weekend warriors" and aspiring professionals to progress towards their goals. The chapters on mental attitude and concentration are particularly recommended.

Title is a misnomer,

Rather than focusing on the key ingredients to coaching it tries too hard to be encyclopedic - that is there are many topics covered in all facets of the sport, but unfortunately does not delve deeply into any. Better title would have been along the lines of "Basic Primer for Conducting a Dinghy Campaign". For a newcomer or club racer aspiring to get better it is a fine first time resource, but for the more experianced it is a rehash of previously published info.
