Dont know where I first heard of this band.. but i am listening to it now and i like it a lot. The comparisons to the Arcade Fire are inevitable as on openers, "Brother" and others including "Ida, My", they produce similar epic soundscapes that are orchestral in feel. At other times they verge on world music, referencing perhaps Graceland era Paul Simon. But they never stray too fair to be consumed in their own pomposity - which is the often the risk when exploring such themes. By mid album, classic song structures are adopted, which while piano driven are mixed up by the drums - almost samba like on "Carry Around" - which carry the unusuality and intrigue of the record. The album finishes with the double of "Father & "Sway" - where that Arcade Fire comparison can be heard again, but also Radiohead or Thom Yorke's solo stuff. All in all an interesting and satisfying album which is imediate enough to like right away but also challenges enough to reward multiple listen.
