There was an understandable mix of emotions bubbling to the surface when the final episode of Battlestar Galactica was finally broadcast in the first half of 2009. On the one hand, this has proven to be vintage science fiction television, easily one of the most ambitious, daring and flat-out successful TV projects in recent times. And on the other, it’s all over, with this box set bringing together the final episodes of the show.
Inevitably, this final season wraps up many of the mysteries and narrative questions of Battlestar Galactica, none of which we intend to spoil here. The fate of humanity, the hunt for the fabled earth and the further revelations about the Cylons are packed in, and the standard throughout this final season remains sky high.
The actual ending itself, as it happens, proved quite divisive, but arguably that’s part of the strength of Battlestar Galactica. Because this is a show that, right to the end, doesn’t take the easy road, and delivers some of the most intelligent, dark drama of recent years. It’s a staggering achievement, and this final season, along with the entirety of the show itself, is set to still be talked about decades into the future. Calling this season four is a misnomer. It's actually only the *first half* of season four. (Season four was derailed because of the writers' strike last year, and remaining half of the season - the last 10 or 11 episodes - will screen in early 2009.) I'd rate the actual content of the episodes as a solid five stars ... but I wouldn't buy this box set. I'll happily wait until 2009 and get the whole of season four in one package.

For those people (like me) who didn't realise this is half a season I have found out the following:
This is the first 10 episodes.
The last 10 episodes will be released in the UK under the title of 'Season 5' (hence the 'Season 4' title of this one).
This UK release will also include 'Razor' (although I can't find any confirmation of whether it will be the extended version of 'Razor'). It will also included deleted scenes and a sneak peak of the 2nd half of the season.
If, like me, you haven't bought Razor yet then this is still a good way of getting your BSG fix. Especially as I'm getting this as a birthday present.
Having now received this item:
This set contains:
The first 10 episodes of Season Four.
The EXTENDED VERSION of Razor (including commentary, deleted scenes and minisodes).
A sneak peek trailer of Season 5 (really 4.1) (which is not worth the disc space)
A whole bunch of deleted scenes from each episode.
Unlike others I was unable to buy Razor earlier - so the inclusion of the extended edition here is absolutely brilliant.
I also did NOT want to wait another year simply so have this season in a single box.
I'd rather watch these excellent 10 episodes NOW and wait for the final 10 until next year.

it's a great boxset; however it did confuse me as this is only the first half of season 4, not the full season. The final season of BSG is the second half of the season. I hope this helps everybody!

Battlestar Galactica 1 season too far
I like the new battlestar Galactica, but they should have stopped at season 3, they just ran out of ideas

They think it's all over, well it is now
Pretty dramatic climax to the BG tale. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole saga and even though they started to lose the plot towards the end, as a whole package I would recommend it.

The plot gets far too lovey dovey but the action keeps you going. Blu-Ray addition has a number of additional features but nothing out of the ordinary.

Fantastic series
This has been a brilliant series and I am very sorry to see it go. I would recommend it to all sci-fi and fantasy fans and all those who fancy a bit of grist in their TV diet
