5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Clone Wars Adventure, 22 Aug 2004
By A Customer
The first in the Medstar Duology is a unique entry into the Star Wars Saga. It is full of well crafted characters and settings and delivers a view into the Clone Wars that is much more than simply battles and fights. A good continuation of the great Clone Wars series of books that have so far delivered a great range of perspectives on this Legendery conflict. I look forward to the next in the duology Jedi Healer and then the greatly anticipated hardcover Jedi Trial.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pointless., 26 Jul 2004

THE STORY:
On the unpleasant world of Drongar a group of Republic medical staff struggle to put back together the warriors of the Clone Wars.

WHAT'S GOOD:
The return of I-5YQ (from Reaves' 'Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter') is good, being a rather unique and comical droid character. The idea of showing the Clone Wars from a very different angle is also good. The prose in general is of good quality and flows well.

WHAT'S BAD:
I'll tell you what's bad; the fact that the one sentence blurb I've written at the top here does, in fact, encompass the entire story. There are only two actual events (the evacuation of the camp and the death of one of the characters) and they happen at the same time, at the end of the book (in regards to the death, I felt completely indifferent about it, which is a bad thing). The characters, although being an interesting bunch, don't actually develop in the slightest and everytime an interesting plot thread emerges, it ends anticlimactically. The reintroduction of Black Sun being the worst offender in that case. Basically, this is a book about a group of characters who don't change, working at a med-camp where nothing happens. Finally, this book's worst crime is the fact it rips off M.A.S.H, a growing trend of story copying in the franchise (see 'Shatterpoint'/'Apocalypse Now'), which puts the clone back in Clone Wars.

Read it for a more complete view of the Clone Wars, but not for any actual entertainment.
