5.0 out of 5 stars THE EDITION WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR...FOR 20 YEARS! 2 Jan 2011
By Anthony G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've been wanting this complete, full-length version of Danny Elfman's best score (IMHO)from 1989 for over 20 years, and have been rather patiently waiting, and very plentifully satisfied. This score to me is on par with Mr. John Willams' forever Classic SUPERMAN score; and is to Danny Elfman's legacy what STAR WARS is to Mr. Williams'. In fact, I've always considered it a high-praise compliment to think this score is very "Williams-esque". La-La Land Records did such an excellent job on culling the different masters to create a very unified work. The sound of the mastering of the film version score is better than any other version of the music I've heard, including in the movie theater. The remaster of the 1989 LP sounds very good as well. For the most part, the film's score is punchier and more dramatic than the original album version, which is what many of us already knew/suspected. I'm glad Mr. Elfman gave La La Land the go-ahead to release the complete version. The liner notes are excellent, detailing the music for each scene in the film, as well the discrepancies between the two recorded versions. Finally, we get the bonus pieces of music never-before-available; all of which are interesting, and enhance the experience. I love the fact that the inside of the CD depicts my favorite scene from the film: The Bat crashing through the sky window of the art museum. Classic scene...Classic image...

Buy it, and get steeped in Gotham City, and its great Gothic score masterpiece. This CD re-release is a treasure that's just as sweet and powerful as it was 21 years ago in the Summer of '89. Happy listening, audiophiles!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Own 15 Feb 2012
By Thingfish33 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This score changed film scoring forever and is one of the most important scores of all time. Ranking with Rota's Godfather and Morricone's Good Bad & Ugly, fans of film music must own this score. Like the previously mentioned scores, the music added depth to the film and characters in a way not heard before but as since influenced the entire genre. This is essential!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars good batman score 14 Dec 2011
By leo134 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I enjoyed this score. I use to have it on tape recorded off the cd. This edition has a lot more tracks, which I liked and it was good to this score available. I went off the music for many years, then when I saw the film again on blue ray was I was impressed with the music. It's quite a dark score in many ways but also entertaining. I liked the film version of the score as apposed to the album. The bonus cues are also good. I loved the main titles and the batman theme which comes out quite a bit. The news theme and the joker's commercial music, included in the bonus cues were a nice touch as well.
5.0 out of 5 stars 1st Batman Movie (1989) Sountrack Expanded And Even More Awesome!!. 27 Aug 2013
By Tony Mitchell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I love the music that Danny Elfman wrote for the first of the modern Batman Movies. I can listen to this soundtrack and see the movie playing out in my head, it's that good and this special edition of the soundtrack album is fantasic!!. Because it includes a great booklet with notes on each track on the 2 cd's and photographs from the first movie as well and unused pieces of music that weren't used in the film and some that were. This music rules!!!.
