Knightfall part 3 suffers the same fate which part 2 did. That being, it will forever live in the shadow cast by part 1. When someone thinks of Knightfall they think only of Bane finally breaking the bat. In my eyes part 1 is one of the best batman stories ever written. And as a result of that the next two parts are seen as inferior. Which to say is no fault of their own. After all how do you follow the breaking of batman? But having said that both are excellent additions to the Knightfall arc and what you are left with is a great continuation of the story.
My only issue with part 3 is one I'm sure many others before me have highlighted. The healing of Bruce Wayne all happens between part 2 and part 3. So with this version of the story we never get to see it. Thankfully I already knew this to be the case but even so I still felt slightly annoyed by the lack of it here. Surely this was one of the major plot devices of the entire arc? We last see Bruce a paraplegic and the next we see him fully healed and in training to once again become Batman.
Once finished we have truly come full circle, we've witnessed the slow painful breakdown of batman, the brutal rise of the young pretender to the eventual reclaiming of the mantle. And finally whilst the end battle between Batman and Jean-Paul may not be the most conventional it is certainly the most fitting and I can certainly appreciate what the writers were trying to achieve.
