This was bought for my 4 year old for Christmas. It is now late August and the Batmobile is still in play, but fairly broken. Not yet terminal I must add, as it does clip together reasonably easily. However, the "ball and socket" design that allows the roof to snap back on / off also means that the "ball" part does eventually sheer.
This is not all due to over enthusiastic play. There are vast numbers of different Batman on the market. Some fit. Some don't. So, logically, children take the roof off to get the toys in.
Our Batmobile is now a convertable with a slightly dangling wing. I guess you have to work out how much 6 months of joy is worth to decide if you think this toy is expensive or not.
What I would say is DO NOT let this Batmobile get chucked in your toy storage during speedy pre-TV cleanups along with all the other stuff. ENSURE that it is not stood on or sat on. Repeated knocks will eventually tell. If kept on a shelf (out of reach of the under 3's) when not being played with, it might well last longer than it did for us.

This is a great toy - we got it for our 3 1/2 year old for christmas and he was delighted with it and perfectly able to play with it. Both his brothers also loved it (2 and 5), and it was deemed one of the more successful of the toys that Father Christmas placed under the tree.
It is very sturdy, and whilst it does come apart fairly easily (especially when being played with by a 2 year old) it is also fairly straight forward to fix back together - our oldest can pretty much mend it on his own.
It's still a staple of play time almost two months on which is testimony to how well it was received by the kids.

My 8 year old batman fanatic son bought this with his Christmas money, he totally loves this and has played with it loads, we do like the transforming method as it has a fold out grip underneath that you hold in one hand then a slider grip you push in the opposite direction for it to transform from car to plane and back again, not fiddly and ends up broken because its too hard for an 8 year old, I would say the build quality is pretty high as he hasn't managed to break it yet.....and that says loads about the build quality (he can be quite heavy handed) and a great price on top of that too!!!

Not tough enough
Within2 weeks of buying this it had fallen to bits. The front of the car/plane came away, the roof fell off and one of the wings came off. Read more

fun product
The toy is durable and fun - it is just a shame a figure didn't come with it as it is not cheap.
