The guide begins with the Heroes and Villains of Arkham Asylum. Each character is given their story, attributes and vital facts. Then the basics of play are explained including controls, combat, gadgets and upgrades. The walkthrough itself contains a floor-plan of each area and the location of every Riddler's Challenge. The reader is warned about every armed encounter and the best way to defeat goons and bosses is explained.
The Riddler's Challenge section reveals the locations of all 240 challenges and gives instructions on solving them. Spirit of Arkham reveals all 24 deciphered messages. Challenge Mode explains all the combat and predator challenges.
Reading this guide shows just how much content there is in the game. The only problem is some of the artwork. Compared to Piggyback's guide to Resi 5 some of it is quite poor. But for any gamer wanting to get the most from Batman: Arkham Asylum this guide is highly recommended.

I love the game, but having played through with this guide, I'd have to say that the walkthrough doesn't do it justice. There is nothing in the guide that is a "must-buy" or significantly enhances the story. The background character profiles are the ones from the game, so they may help people unfamiliar with the DC universe to solve some of the Riddles.
The maps in particular are a let down; it's difficult to figure out which icon relates to which solution and the Riddler Secrets Maps in the game perform almost the exact same job. I think the only time I used the book maps was to find a couple of Joker Teeth right at the end.
The tips for the Challenges are useful, if not fantastic.
In all, the various online guides and the plethora of videos they contain make a much better medium for the walkthrough than a printed one, although it is nice to have a printed reference rather than a laptop next to you.

I've not played this game personally as it was a present for my boyfriend, but from what I've seen the graphics are awesome (ps3) and I've considered taking it back and playing it myself! The only comments he would add are it would be best to buy the strategy guide too as this game is very involved and there are many hidden small missions or awards missed if played with out the guide. Overall 10/10 especially if you like games that are challenging and take more than 5 mins to complete.
