Product Description

Platform: Xbox 360 | Edition: Game of the Year Edition

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.

Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition is the follow-up to the award-winning hit video game Batman: Arkham Asylum and delivers an authentic and gritty Batman experience, with additional Harley Quinn's Revenge bonus content.

  • Become the Dark Knight: Batman: Arkham City delivers a genuinely authentic Batman experience with advanced, compelling gameplay on every level: high-impact street brawls, nail-biting stealth, multifaceted forensic investigation, epic super-villain encounters and unexpected glimpses into Batman's tortured psychology.
  • Advanced FreeFlow combat: Batman faces highly coordinated, simultaneous attacks from every direction as Arkham's gangs bring heavy weapons and all-new AI to the fight, but Batman steps it up with twice the number of combat animations and double the range of attacks, counters and takedowns.
  • New gadgets: Batman has access to new gadgets such as the Cryptographic Sequencer V2 and Smoke Pellets, as well as new functionality for existing gadgets that expand the range of Batman's abilities without adding extra weight to his Utility Belt.
  • New story: Five-time Emmy-Award-winner Paul Dini returns to pen a brand-new story for Batman: Arkham City, taking gamers deep inside the diseased heart of Gotham.

Certainly one of the best games I've played in a while. I purchased Arkham Asylum a few months ago but I decided to wait for the game of the year edition of Arkham City to come out before I got the sequel. I was surprised it was released at such a cheap price considering all the DLC it has loaded on to it. I'd definitely recommend the game to anybody, whether they're a batman fan or not.

I purchased this game because I played the previous Arkham asylum game and loved it, they are both great games, and the best "grown up" Batman games. This sequel is set in a bigger more open world and looks amazing, with lots of extra side quests to get involved with and lots more to collect. The main story is great, I seemed to clear it quicker than what I was expecting even though I went off doing side missions/collecting, but the story was still enjoyable. I would say the game adds to the story of Arkham asylum but its the size of the world and extra content that makes this game a great sequel...more Batman Fun either way.
The ability to be Catwoman and Robin for example improves on Asylum (Included in the game of the year edition free)

*The main thing that is amazing about this game of the year edition and makes it the must have version to buy!..is that it includes all the downloadable extra content on a bonus disc to install for free (over £20 worth atleast)
Including...

I can remember in the days of the Commodore 64 badgering my mum for a Superman game for Christmas. When I got it I was so disappointed we took it back to the shop.

Then later I played one of those Ocean movie tie ins - Batman based on the Tim Burton movie. It's heart was there but it was just held back by the technology at the time.

Now we have Batman. Really and truly Batman. Within a few minutes of playing you really get into it. You can fight like Batman, glide like him, you build a belt full of Batman gadgets - I suppose the only downside is you don't get to drive the Tumbler.

I'd played Arkham Asylum to death so this was a must. I have read that others first impressions were not good, but I felt it exceeded the first game within a few hours. You get a lot of freedom and once you have finished the main game you need to actually set your own agenda (collecting Riddler trophies or solving his riddles) or you can end up wandering around.

You get to play Catwoman in seperate but linked missions and Robin appears in Harley Quinn's revenge.

I bought the GOTY edition even though I already had the 'ordinary' version as it was just simply cheaper to get all the DLC. The DLC comes on a seperate disc and interestingly it will only work with the game disc that comes with it - by that I mean you can't use the other version thereby stumping anyone who wants to pass the DLC disc round to their mates!

At under £15 this is a bargain and a must for your collection.

Everything about Batman - comics, art, films, the mythology...I lap it all up - and this game is very respectful of all things relating to the Gotham universe. I also loved Arkham Asylum, and thought it was unsurpassable, but somehow this game is even closer to a true depiction of Batman than even Chris Nolan has managed - mainly because the drive and power of Batman are allied to the detective thing (Nolan didn`t capture this enough in my opinion). It`s just an incredible achievement - particularly this edition, with the DLC of Catwoman, and Harley`s Revenge, plus playing as Robin and loads of other fun stuff (like changing skins and loads of challenges). No need to cover the story, except to say it`s fantastic - but how about this for a list of villains? Joker, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Zsasz, Harley, Clayface, Bane, Mad Hatter, Mr Freeze, Hush, Poison Ivy, Black Mask, Riddler...they are all featured somewhere and that isn`t everyone by any stretch of the imagination. I can`t overstate how fantastic Arkham City looks either, in fact all the game is strangely beautiful. The gameplay is smooth and exciting too, and the range of gadgets available as you go through the game are seriously fun to use. I never thought gaming could be anything like this! Here`s hoping Arkham Origins can be a worthy successor.
