Batman: Arkham City

Got a day early, And was suprised and really excited..and then I opened my Batman collectors edition to find an excellent statue by Kotobkuiya of Batman..And a blu ray which was not expected.. Then i was looking for the game box and there wasnt one so picked out the art book which as soon as i opened a ton of DLC fell out again brilliant..and then the art book very good with pictures of the game. Very nice and then i get to the back of the art book to see the game at the back of it...I was thinking to myself I paid extra for all that other stuff and they couldnt even give me a normal ps3 cover. How will the art book look beside all my other collection of games.. But anyway the game made up for the stupid idea for the art book and it was again a masterpiece from Rocksteady..if you loved arkham asylum..this is 100% for you, giving you control of the cape crusader once again to fight villians such as Joker, Mr.Freeze and the Penguin just to mention a few..I have already completed the game and i quickly started again to try and find all the riddler trophies and do all the other side quests on a more difficult setting..also there is challenges that you can do outside the main game..And with this collectors edition you also get Catwoman to go about Arkham and again do the challenges with..This is a must buy for any Batman fans new to the game or who have already played Arkham Asylum..if you havent played the first i would recommend you buy it first..

Batman Arkham City is the best superhero game of all time and one of the best games of 2011. Batman's fans - but not only his fans - will love the thrilling story, the gameplay, the characters and the incredible large and in-depth world of Arkham City. In addition to the gigantic campaign, the game offers a lot of sidequests, secrets and challenges that increase it's replay value to the top. The Collector's Edition is rich in contents: extra codes for Soundtrack, Challenge Maps and new costumes, an artbook and a very very well done action figure of Batman make this game even more unmissable. So, Batman Arkham City is definitely a must buy game.

Arkham asylum was a groundbreaking game; it showed us that developers can make a super hero game without it being based off of a movie and it can be amazing. Arkham city does everything that AA done but with loads of new content and tweaks to make the experience better and feel fresh.

Arkham city takes place a while after the events of the first game with arkham asylum being ruined and basically useless, we are not told how long after but now an entire section of Gotham city has been turned into a prison with no one being able to go in or out. The massive prison is being watched over by professor Hugo strange who fans of the comics will know as a psychiatrist who figures out batman's secret identity in order to use it against him.
Although Hugo strange is officially overlooking AC the city is in fact divided into territories each controlled by a different villain such as two-face, the joker, etc and there are gang wars taking place throughout the city. Batman finds out that Hugo strange has plans for these criminals so he goes into arkham city to find out what Hugo strange is keeping a secret and to stop the wars inside the prison. Each villain also has their own side story's that feed into the overall arc of AC such as the joker is still feeling the affects of the TITAN formula which is slowly killing him so he must find a cure, these stories arn't gon3 into too deeply which is a shame.

The game goes full force right from the beginning; the opening cut scene took my breath away and set the tone for the adventure that was about to unfold. Compared to the first game arkham city's map is at least 5 times bigger, the cast of villains and supporting characters is greater and the number of combos/gadgets that are at your disposal is amazing. Right from the start you have the majority of batman's equipment and combos so you can kick ass right from the start.

Gameplay has for the most part stayed the same; the freeflow combat system still feels great but there have been some minor adjustments which make it a lot better for example now you can counter two or even 3 enemies at the same time, gadgets such as the bat-claw have their own hot keys and when your sneaking around a double silent takedown can be performed. Gliding has had a little tweak also, dive bombs can be performed which stuns enemies and the bat claw can be used to shoot batman into the air giving you more time to fly, at one point in the game I spent 5 minutes just gliding around seeing how long I could go for.

The graphics are stunning, batman looks his best, the joker's I'll face looks truly disgusting and looking at the entire city from on top of a tower is something I stopped to do many times. The voice acting is just as good as it was before with Mark Hamill stealing the show as the joker, Kevin Conroy as batman/Bruce Wayne and Corey burton as Hugo strange.

The game took me a good 14 hours to complete the main storyline but when I looked at my completion percentage it was only at 39%! That's because after the main story there are still over 400 riddler challenges, 20 waynetech virtual challenges, political prisoners to rescue, bane needs help finding Titan canisters to destroy, cat woman missions, deadshot investigations, zsasz hostages to rescue and then challenge maps. And I haven't mentioned everything, I have left some stuff out because some may be classed as spoilers. After completing the main story you can continue to wander round the city completing side missions or start from the very begginng but with everything you unlocked available from the get go so you can play through again but feeling like even more of a badass.
Throughout the city there are a number of Easters eggs mentioning characters or events from arkham asylum which is a nice surprise and posters in some areas hinting at possible characters for DLC.
The challenge mode from arkham asylum is back; you are put in parts from the campaign and a given specific criteria to complete the level or waves of enemies attack and you must defeat them with the highest score possible.
Rocksteady have also said that there will be downloadable content coming in the future so this game will stay in my console for a very very long time.
Batman: arkham city is the best game I have played all year and is easily top of my list for game of the year, I can't think of another game coming out soon that will top this.
