The Ultimate Experience of the Dark Knight

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security home for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. The game features an unique combination of melee combat, stealth, investigative and speed-based challenge gameplay. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Fun:
Now I played Arkham asylum about 7 times, then I got the Game of the Year. Played that another 7 times, and I loved every moment off all of it. So I had my doubts about this being any better. How wrong I was. The moment I gained controll, i knew this was groundbreaking! Everything about the game is perfect! the combat is amazing, the graphics spectatular, voice work magnificent, and the story is pure gold! The improvements over Arkham Asylum can be noticed almost instantly, with an improved heads up display, more gadgets than Best Buy and more Batman baddies than a comic book collectors wet dream it it just incredible. My only gripe is the gadget layou is slightly different than AA so I often select the wrong gadget seeing as I'm so used to that but thats my fault. And the Collectors Edition is fantastic! I would have been sold even if it didn't have any extra content or the DVD. The statue and artbook was what hooked me, and what a high quality they are. Every single aspect is beyond perfect for this masterpiece of a game. 2011... the year of the Bat!

Fun:
I was fortunate to recieve this a day before release. I am approximately 4 hours in to the game, and so far I have nothing negative to say. Its a work of art, through and through. Plays very much the same way as Asylum but on a much bigger scale. The graphics, somehow, have been improved, the controls seem as reliable and as fluid as ever, and the storyline, well, i'll let you discover that. This version also gives you the 'catwoman bundle', so dont expect to be playing as Batman for the entire time. The catwoman character is so full of personality, she deserves a game for herself. Thia collectors version comes with a small statue, some download keys for various maps, an art book, a gotham knight feature length animated dvd, and a download code for a 'soundtrack album', even though the songs on it dont seem to be in the game(?)
This time around the challenge is greater, the fights with the numerous henchmen are slightly trickier, and some of the bosses are, well, hard. if you liked asylum, then do not hestate, if you hated asylum, i suggest you throw your console away, and take up fishing. BUY THIS GAME NOW.

This is probably my favourite game ever, and I've only had it two days! Anyone who liked Arkham Asylum will fall in love with this - I thought Asylum was great but slightly flawed, whereas this is simply astonishing! Get it - the Catwoman DLC is worth it too...10/10

Misleading and being misled
Arkham City? No, it is not a city, to have that word on the cover is misleading. All it is is a big prison with no roof. There is no city to explore. Read more
