NOTE: This is a review for the content of the Collector's Edition of the game. While the game itself is excellent, the Collector's Edition is a total rip-off and a huge disappointment, particularly at the prices being charged these days.
Firstly, the Batarang. Looks great in the picture, doesn't it? Well, the one supplied in the box is NOTHING like the picture. It is the cheapest plastic and probably cost pennies to make. A huge let-down. I don't expect a realistic one that can be thrown, or even one made of metal... but COME ON! This looks like it came with a Happy Meal.
The US got a leather-bound book; the EU just gets a tatty, card cover.
The US got a cool box too; we just get a cardboard one.
But the worst crime, in my opinion, is the box for the game itself. There is NO plastic case for the game; instead you just get a flimsy cardboard "digipack" with awful artwork. It's DVD sized too, so doesn't sit nicely on your shelf alongside other PS3 cases.
For the money - I paid around £100 for mine - I felt truly let-down by this ill-thought out package. The game itself is truly excellent; but the Collector's Edition was a total misfire. I'd have been annoyed if I'd paid £40-£50 for this, seeing as they couldn't be bothered to include a proper case for the game... but for £100+ it's a huge, HUGE let-down. BUYER BEWARE! If you want the game, go for the standard edition. It's a much better deal than this tat.
