This book tells the story of Batman and Robin and their two major enemies. Also there is Alfred Batman's housekeeper and his nephew Barbara who is Batgirl. The story begins when Batman is young and he went with his parents to the cinema. After the film finished they began to walk back to the car which was parked in a nearby alleyway. As they walked Batman could hear footsteps but when he turned around there was nobody there. Soon he heard two gun shots and his parents collapsed. He knelt down only to find they were dead. Batman looked up and saw a reflection of a bat in a window but little did he know this was going to be his path to revenge.Batman had become Gotham City's 'Dark Night' and between him and Robin they were going to defend against all evil and fight for the innocent who could not fight for themselves. Batman has two identities Batman and Bruce Wayne. In this book he plays the main part and is a very destructive person, but in doing so he always helps other people. Mr. Freeze is one of Batman's sworn enemies. Freeze is after all the riches in the world and will do anything to get his ands on them. He is always trying to kill Batman in the worst ways possible. Poison Ivy is another of Batman's enemies and is very impatient in what she does. She wants Batman to grow fond of her so he kisses her but her mouth is full of poison, which Batman will swallow and possibly die. She used to be a mad scientist's sidekick. Robin is always after the girls and thinks a lot of himself although his hard work never pays off, and in a way I feel sorry for him. Alfred is Batman's housekeeper and is always very worried about the dangerous things that Batman and Robin get up to. He is always very busy designing new inventions for Batman and Robin. Barbara is Batgirl and she is Alfred's niece; she is a biker and always gets in to trouble. Robin becomes very fond of her but also very frustrated when Barbara beats him in something and always thinks of an excuse. I have really enjoyed reading this book and hope to read similar books by the same author in the future.
