Okay this collection is taken from the comics taken from the animated series as such it represents the 'midway point' between hardcore batman fans and the casual comic book purchaser. (me :) ) The collection contains some interesting plotlines, particularly the Scarecrow, Joker and Rose Door stories, where the writing really excels. The art however is rather plain with none of the grit and gothic mastery of other accomplished artists. Instead it does appear that Batman might well be in modern New York or LA with none of the distinctiveness Gotham has built up over the years. Also the 'trip to England' gimmick has been done before (anyone remember the old 60's episode where the dynamic duo visit 'Londinium'?) All in all i would recommend it for younger readers (perhaps 10-14 years old.)
