As an adult returning to Batman graphic novels after a long break, I'm truly amazed by the entire Hush concept. Sure, the 'Absolute' hardback is expensive on the face of it, but it is well presented in a hardback sleeve as well as the novel itself being a hardback with slipcover. From the moment you turn the first page, you know you're looking at something very special indeed. The artwork is stunning, every panel, every page. The colour is accurate and considerate of the inking and the story, well, it's definately 'up there'. Worth every penny as far as I'm concerned!

I cannot recommend this book too highly. The outstanding combination of top writer Jeph Loeb (Superman for All Seasons, Batman: Dark Victory & Long Hallowe'en) and artist extraordinaire Jim Lee (X-men, Wild C.A.T.S, Superman: For Tomorrow) makes for one of the most sumptious comic books produced in a long time.
This story contains everything you could possibly want: a whole host of Batman villains, the supposed return of a dead ally, Batman and Catwoman hooking up and a creepy new villain called Hush.
Jim Lee is the finest action artist at work today, and his panels are a joy to the eye. Jeph Loeb creates a wholly engrossing and well-crafted story line which revolutionised the Batman title when it was published in 2001. This oversized edition includes all the covers of the original series (works of art in their own right), Jim Lee's guide to hidden easter-eggs in the panels of all twelve issues and a great interview with the arist and writer where they look back at what they achieved.
This is fully deserving of five stars becuase you get so much for your money. The edition is beautifully bound with new art for the cover, and all the extras enhance what was already a faultless piece of contemporary comic book history.

Loeb's story revolves around the emergence of a mysterious new villain, and involves almost every major player in the Batman world (including the shocking return of a former ally) and is as layered and mysterious as the Dark Knight himself. Complimented by Lee's gorgeous artwork, this collection is a must have in the enlarged, high quality Absolute format.
