An excellent introduction to the art of Batik,

I have just started to do Batik and I found Sarah Tucker's book very useful. The instructions were clear and concise and the photographs and illustrations showing Sarah working were very helpful. I learnt a lot about the different techniques of Batik Art - of working with paper as well as with cotton. I also think that Sarah Tucker's own work and style are wonderful.

Excellent how-to-do-it book,

This book is exactly what I wanted: a strong, clear, detailed guide to the techniques involved in creating works in batik - pictures, scarves, cushion covers. It's full of illustrations which made it easy to follow but it also encouraged me to be more ambitious, trying out techniques which were quite new to me. Good for a beginner, therefore, but also good for those who already know about batik but want to get to grips with new ideas!
