Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Bat Out of Hell is probably remembered most for its rock operetta of every teenage boy's plight, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light". Certainly the most dramatic piece on the album, it engaged Meat Loaf's testosterone-crazed tenor in an incremental game of sexual bargaining with the resistant, but willing, Ellen Foley. By employing exaggerated power chords, screaming vocals, over-the-top arrangements, and a sense of rock and roll as Broadway theater, Bat made Meat Loaf a star. Jim Steinman's contribution to the record is invaluable. His classically tinged piano gave a certain lush quality to his collaborations with Meat Loaf, making songs like the hit "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" all the more emotional. Larger than life in every sense of the word, Bat Out of Hell sometimes sounds a bit dated, but has retained most of its appeal. --Steve Gdula

I'd agree with everyone else who has left a review on this page - 'Bat out of Hell' is a timeless classic - if you haven't heard it before, go get it, you have missed an experience!

Meat Loaf letting rip at full roar is positively one-of-a-kind: operatic, OTT and unmissable. This album showcases his particular talents perfectly, a sound like his requires songs of high drama to match the vocal intensity with which Meat Loaf performs them.

My caveat is simple - the original is a classic, and this re-vamp adds nothing to it(except a bonus track). A slightly more polished production does these songs no service, and although Meat Loaf sings with as much passion as ever, this remastering serves only to show up slight technical imperfections in his performance.

So - forget the rehash, get the original if you can - but if you can't, then go out and buy this, and treat yourself to the unforgettable!

Re-vamped? 18 Oct 2011
Format:Audio CD
Having purchased re-vamped as part of my Daughters musical education, I was slightly disappointed on listening to this classic rock album. Sure, it`s been a few years since I heard this album but I found the production very flat and compressed on cd. I was expecting more work to have been carried out in the studio on the mix to justify the tag of re-vamped. Still, it remains a classic and good to hear Meat at his best.
