Jah Wobble began his musical career at 18 as a founder member of Public Image Limited. His heavy, hypnotic bass lines defined the post punk era and have influenced many musicians over the last 30 odd years. He has collaborated with the likes of Brian Eno, Bjork, Bill Laswell, Pharaoh Sanders, LoneLady, Sinead O Connor, Natasha Atlas and many more. He has made records in all sorts of genre s and sub genres, from World Beat through to Dub, Jazz, Ambient and beyond. This DVD features a mesmerising Bass Master Class from the man himself, (aided admirably by drummer Marc Layton-Bennett). Bonus features include an irreverent and hilarious audience Q&A, demonstrating the extrovert and humorous side of the man. Plus unique footage of Wobble discussing some of the releases on his own label, his working methods and his influences.

This is a great DVD......where this differs from "Muso DVDs"..is that Wobble just talks sense....if you have read his book
Memoirs of a Geezer: Music, Mayhem, Life..you'll know the man talks sense!!!
There is no flash fingerwork here...just concentrating on the "riddims" ..and patterns...at no point do you feel like he is showboating or being flash.
A real pleasure to watch and all done in a straight talking no "bull***t" way.
It covers quite a lot of styles without you really noticing.
I am bass player too...but I don't think you have to be to get some quality entertainment and a musical education!
So...it is wobble on bass...with a drummer......on a small stage...in the back of a pub......and a small audience...brilliant.......don't take your laptop................!!!!! You need to watch it to get that one....

The Legend Lives On....................

This dvd is more than just a masterclass on bass, It gives and insight into what makes mr wobble tick. Wobble discusses the early years of his career and how some of the PIL basslines came about, how he has worked with musicians from around the globe and also features a few improvised gems. To hear Jah Wobble talking about some of the releases on his 30 hertz label, on one of the bonus features, is a real treat for anyone who is a fan.

Jah Wobble is a giant in post-punk and world music circles. This video is a glimpse into his creative processes. Wobble has played all kinds of music during his long career, from requiems to dub to jazz to post-punk. He is accompanied by his amazing drummer, Marc Layton-Bennett. There is also a Q&A session that shows his great sense of humor. If you're a long time musician or just starting out, Wobble will inspire you.
