I know that i myself was anticipating the release of the sequel to probably the greatest Break Beat album that has been released in a long time. So when i noticed the album advertised on the TV, i was straight down the nearest music shop to pick up a copy. However getting home and placing the first disc into the CD player, i was not over impressed. I like garage, but for some reason i just did not get the buzz that came from the original. Yes the tunes were there and definitely too was the bass, but the rhythms were not so much break beats and long pulsing bass lines. But all was saved as i stuck in CD number 2, hoorah something with the Bass, Breaks and Beats that i grew to love in the first album. DJ Hype renewed my trust in this bass grinding compilation. The second CD is far more underground drum and bass than garage, and the bass lines get deeper and darker the further you fall into the rhythms. A joy to the ear! Maybe a bit much on the ear drum, its according if you value your hearing. Overall i have given this compilation a 3, the lagging beats found in the first disc are woken up by amazingly fast break beats in the second. Don't get me wrong though, maybe my ear drums have grown accustomed to d'n'b. EZ's music isn't as bad as i make it sound, just comparing it to Hype's slamming vibes is why i would prefer to rate both separately. For longitivity both DJ's have supplied a superb CD if you are a fan of both genders. Or maybe a couple can split the CD's. If your a drum n bass fan choose CD2 n leave the garage loving overhalf to themselves.

For me Its all about disc 2-mixed by DJ Hype, if youre an old skool garage fan then disc 1 is right up your street however, disc 2 is THE BEST CD i have had the plessure to own. I first bought it at the end of 2002 and loved it so much i had to buy it again on several occasions. It's a classic with real dark grimey beats, you'd be lost without it.

Being a fan of both D 'n B and garage i thought this was gonna be the perfect album but disc 1 is just wack. This is very unlike EZ to play these kinda tunes, they are just plain awful with the exception of wookie-scrappy. These so called "grimy beats" are usually good to listen to especially while driving but these are terrible! Disc 2 however is a totally different story, excepting the disasterous track 5, the disc is great and really gets you moving. It is worth buying just for disc 2. The only thing that lets it down is Hype's scratching that we does constantly whenever he plays out too, but that can be (just about) ignored.

This was not the Garage/DnB compilation i was expecting, i have all other EZ cd's so was thinking this would be top-rate stuff, but i am disappointed. Not so much that i think my purchase was bad, just it doesnt sound as good as previous efforts.Firstly the garage side, most of it is new which im happy with, but then some of the new garage music is very different to what im used to. Tracks such as 2nd II None and more2dafloor are the grimy beats, tracks which feel like they have no rhythm and beat.Although i like Pulse X by the Musical Mob which was 1 of the 1st tracks of its kind, these 2 tracks sound so different i dont like them. And EZ didnt even bother to mix some of them.in fact i found the mixing to be v.different to classic EZ stuff, not much cutting and chopping, more jus blending 1 into another which doesnt show EZ's character. However some of the effects EZ has made are amazing, in Jammin-Hello particularly.Im not a fan of DnB,and found that cd side to dark and deep DnB to be happy with, and the scratching by Hype is repetetive.however tracks 5 and 20 were good, but im sure pure DnB listeners will like all.
