There is no other volume as useful. Gorka Aulestia has tackled the difficult problem of translating the non-Indo-European Basque language into English. He has overcome the diversity of the many Basque subdialects and the political pressure to favor the Batua dialect by incorporating all six major dialects of the revitalized language. He includes many terms relating to modern society, contradicting the slur that Basque is a rural-based language. Many of these terms do not appear in existing Basque-Spanish or Basque-French dictionaries. This is not a mechanical reworking of older dictionaries; the author has done fresh research to capture a rapidly evolving language.
