I bought this book as my 11 year old daughter has set her sights on a basketball career and is showing talent at the game. Both her parents are players also, so it's somewhat of an advantage for me to review the book with inside knowledge. The book also accompanies two excellent videos. For those of you who don't know, Nancy Lieberman was one of the greatest all time women basketball players. She is now one of the most knowledgable coaches and analysts in the game (men or women). In this book she not only teaches you basketball technique, but more importantly encourages a mindset of a disciplined and honest lifestyle dedicated to achievement in this beautiful game.
If you look at Women's college basketball in the U.S., Nancy Lieberman provides commentary on the ESPN.com website. Here you will see her passion and ability within the game - she recently in her mid 40's decided the best way to view up and coming youngsters was to play against and with them in amateur leagues - she knows who's fast off the dribble, because they blew past her!
Nancy offers advice on college recruitment, which whilst out of reach for most youngsters in the UK, does give you the opportunity to set your goals high, and if you really want to make it in basketball you have to tell yourself that you will do everything it takes to get to the top...and the top isn't in the UK.
Read and learn, copy and execute. Work hard and chase your dream. This book is a good tool in that development.
