I can't believe no one has reviewed this sooner. It brings back so many memories of the the film( which i loved and the book is fantastic!) It has some great songs like Catholic Boy and People who've died by Jim Carroll and a Pj Harvey track as well!!!!!

It's a slam-dunk. 9 Dec 2003
By H3@+h - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Like anyone, I picked this up because of all the bands I liked on it. But the real bonus is that the bands I didn't know are just as great, or these songs anyway. One of the well known songs on here is "People Who Died", by the "Jim Carroll Band". All the songs involving him are good. The tracks from "PJ Harvey" and "The Cult" are good. Obviously "Riders On The Storm" is classic. The songs "Coming Right Along" and "Strawberry Wine" are suprisingly good as well. The only disappointments here are from "Flea" and "Soundgarden". Neither song is bad, but I expected more from them. This also has a few inserts from the book "Basketball Diaries".

Great Soundtrack 31 Jan 2003
By david gessert - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This was an awesome movie and a it's a great soundtrack. The "songs" by Jim Carroll are different and if you buy this CD for any reason, it will have to be for the song "Strawberry Wine." Plain and simple, the song is amazing.

Surprisingly wonderful 20 Nov 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I actually bought the thing cause at the time I liked Leonardo DiCaprio. Well, suffice to say I'm *over* that phase, but I held onto the CD. This album has a great selection of songs..."Strawberry Wine" (Massive Internal Complications) still sends a chill up my spine. "Coming Right Along" is just as great. I'm able, actually, to listen to the whole CD without skipping around. A well-deserved 5 stars.

Strawberry Wine........ 20 Aug 2006
By Terrence A. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This soundtrack to the Leo DiCaprio movie is pretty good for the most part. The standouts on this disc include "Riders on the Storm" by the Doors, "Down by the Water" by PJ Harvey and "Strawberry Wine" by Massive Internal Complications.

The real reason that I'm even writing this review is just to draw your attention to "Strawberry Wine", which is just a great song that a lot of people haven't heard of. I think the song was just a one-shot because I can't find any information on the band itself or anything else they may have done. Anyway, try to get your hands on that song, it's absolutely fantastic.
One of the best soundtracks I've heard in awhile. 17 Nov 2013

I really like this soundtrack from the only Leonardo DiCaprio movie I really ever liked. It's got some really good music on it, including songs by The Doors, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. The song "Strawberry Wine" by Massive Internal Complications is really nice, and the diary excerpts read by the real Jim Carroll (the character portrayed in the movie) are really quite interesting. They caught my attention and made me actually go back and listen to them quite a few times. Anyone who has never seen the movie should do so and then go and buy this soundtrack. There are many good songs on it, including a punk sounding song called "People Who Died" by The Jim Carroll Band. This CD is a great addition to anyone's soundtrack collection.
