Product Description

Duane Bradley's brother is very small, very twisted, very mad and he lives in a basket...until night comes! After a difficult birth, which their mother didn't survive, Duane was born with a monstrously deformed Siamese twin, Belial, attached to his side. Embittered by the death of his wife and unable to accept his hideous son, the boys' father ordered the twins to be surgically separated. Surviving the operation, but deeply resentful of his enforced removal from his brother's side, Belial plans to get even with his father and the doctors responsible. Duane, normal looking but sympathetic to his brother's plight, moves to New York carrying with him a large basket in which his grotesque twin hides. Together they seek out the surgeons responsible for their violent separation and Belial wreaks his gruesomely bloody revenge... Special Features: - Star and Director Filmographies - Original Theatrical Trailer - Alan Jones Film Review - On-Screen Gallery - Tartan Trailer Reel

Frank Henenlotter's BASKET CASE is a truly disturbing masterpiece. It deals with a frustrated character Belial who is the deformed twin of Duane Bradley (Kevin Van Hwentenryck). The film itself is at times deeply emotional. As you feel sorry for Belial. The fact that he doesn't have much of a life. And also the fact that he wants to be loved, but can't. That does touch on some society issues. So as that as an example this movie has an intelligent plot.

Henenlotter's bizzare atmosphere and original scare tactics make this movie also. He is honest in these outragous scenes of sex and violence which fit the movies character. Although at times the gore is quite graphic and the effects are dated it still has this effect thar grips the viewer. Overall an excellent movie which has its own points to say on family and emotions.

I really rate Basket Case. I've seen it probably three times at ten yearly intervals and watched it last night and it always suprises me as to how good it is. It has a dated feel to it of course but it looked quite dated when it was released anyway.
I would advise any new viewers to perservere with it as it does get considerably better as it goes along.
The story is outstanding in my opinion; two conjoined twins, one horribly deformed, separated with the more conventional of the twosome carrying his sibling around in a wicker basket.
The deformed basket bound son has serious 'issues' and considerable anger management problems which manifest themselves in waves of jealous rage, room wrecking, face ripping and body splitting antics. The deformed brother is presented really well and doesn't speak but makes a great screaming growling type noise. It is very amusing in part and there is some gore though not excessive amounts.
It's filmed in a quite fitting amateurish way, the characters are great as is the location, a seedy appartment block and with good use of flashbacks providing background as to the origins and experience of the twins.
A real classic horror in many ways, without entering the debate on re-makes I am really suprised this has not been remade as the story is so strong and quite horrific really.
A great, great film.

This is all about low budget cinema with lots of attitude.Cheap gore and New York 80s decadence in a twisted desperation and revenge story.Hennenlotter is certainly no visual master but its all moody and threatening, like Taxi Driver on mushrooms.

"There's something I've been dying to ask you. What's in the basket?"
Basket Case has a great story, sadly the execution doesn't quite match it and it falls just short of being a genuine classic. Read more

Good B movie
I like this film, it's part comedy part horror but the comedy isn't over-played
stay away from 2 and 3 though if you're looking for a similar setting they're crap
