The first book in a series of titles exploring the way in which we, as designers, approach the process of design generation, from the intial thoughts stage through to a final outcome.
I found this read to be informative, comprehensive and thought provoking - as any book approaching the methods through which the designer's imagination progresses ought to do.
It explores the numerous routes one may take in order to almost exhaust an idea - exploring every avenue of an initial thought, thoroughly looking into the vast possibilities of the directions in which an idea may go, and laying out just how an idea can go from perhaps one simple word, thought or experience, through to potentially almost innumerable concepts, all stemming from one initial concept.
This book lead me to rethink, to quite an extent, the way in which I, as a young designer, approach the process of idea generation. Through using appropriate combinations of the documented methods, I feel much more able to explore an idea to the best of my ability.
It will most certainly enable me in future to explore a concept in much more depth having read this title, and consequently I would recommend it to anyone desiring a fresh and innovative look at the numerous initial processes to consider when beginning, as the title states, 'Idea Searching'
