"Memorize these paradigm charts, and you will know Biblical Greek," were the words of my first-year Greek teacher. Oh, how I wish now that William Mounce's grammar was available back then! Mounce offers a new, inductive approach to learning Biblical Greek that actually makes learning Biblical Greek exciting and fun! The student will no longer have to rely on mere rote memorization to "learn" Greek. Mounce explains why some Greek words do what they do when they change tenses/cases. Even the most diffcult of forms become sensible. Thank you Dr. Mounce for making learning Greek enjoyable. PS: If you're beyond the basics of Biblical Greek but wish to dig a little deeper, check out Mounce's Graded Reader of Biblical Greek and Morphology of Biblical Greek. Also part of the Series is Daniel Wallace's monumental work, Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics. Amazon.com has them. You need them.

This book takes you straight to the New Testament with plenty of practical encouragement. The author provides a simple approach to the difficulties of Greek grammar. Taken with the workbook, this book can take you through all the basics of two semesters of seminary Greek.

HASH(0x9736bc84) out of 5 stars Greatest Language Book Ever 2 Nov. 2010

Basics to Biblical Greek, in my opinion, was the best language book ever written! The book starts of with giving you a purpose to even learning the language, which is a huge driver to continue. You are expected to learn the necessary grammar to read, a few paradigms, which are charts that help you learn endings and definite articles, and a little over 300 words. Most texts want you to learn a couple of thousand!!! Learning these words will allow you to read roughly 80% of the New Testament!!! I have taken French, Spanish, and Greek, and have used more than one book in each subject; this book by far was the easiest and most efficient!!! I recommend this to everyone, even people wanting to just learn classical Greek to read Plato or Aristotle. Obviously you would have to learn far more words, but grammar wise, this book is the best! Also if you really want to learn efficiently, I would suggest that you buy a Greek bible, which there is a link for on the review. The bible, that I linked, is a bible that works along with the book. It has, at the bottom, all of the words on the page that you wouldn't have learned. They are defined so that you don't have to look them up. This book also has an amazing font, which is extremely important, and it is leather.

A Reader's Greek New Testament: 2nd Edition
HASH(0x9736557c) out of 5 stars great book, outdated edition 12 Aug. 2014
By D. T. Kleven - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I recently had to pass a Greek entrance exam to get into a Bible program. I started out with this 1st edition, and the workbook. I did not get very far before I switched to the 2nd edition and workbook. The answers to the 2nd edition (and the 3rd) are available online. There is no way that I know of to check your answers from the 1st edition.

After switching to the 2nd edition, I loved working through the material, and I passed my test. 5 stars for Mounce, but use an updated edition.
